Running the Human Race

The Human Race 10k
Recently Starbucks has taken upon a new health and wellness platform. I really admire Starbuck's goal to not only contribute to communities, but particularly investing in the lives of the individual. "To provide a personal experience that enriches others daily lives." As part of this new campaign Starbucks has partnered with Nike's Human Race. Here's where I am really pumped, Nike is donating at total of 3 million dollars to charity as they bring people together on August 31 to walk 6.25 miles. We walk, they give. I am by no means a runner but this month I have committed to training hard for the event. My miles will be ran for the Lance Armstrong Foundation.

But there's more!
My 70 something year old grandpa is my partner. He has within the last few month lost a ton of weight and has really focused on health living; walking 4 miles a day and eating healthy to control his diabetes. He is incredible and I am so proud of him. We will be running/ walking with the world. I can't wait to sweat, cramp, and have an incredible experience.

Let's Try this out!?

Recently I received an email from xanga.com asking if I still wanted to continue my membership. Yeah, Xanga... before myspace and facebook, xanga.  So I clicked on the link, logged in, and discovered that I used to be quite the blogger. Last blogged, or more primitively called weblogged, sometime in 2005. It was quite eery seeing my old self in pen, writing about my summer, floodgate, things that ticked me off, my favorite movies, my family, Mike, whatever. Reading I can see how I've grown since then! Pretty much me on a soap box, but I loved it. So I guess I'll try this thing again, into the new era of web journaling. Here I go...
